Thanks Lymon, I also found a couple pics of the front and back of a newer model engine on Bernies website. It did reveal that Nissan did replace the VTC actuators with some kind of slug to fill the hole. No conclusion can be drawn from that though other than it at least a 96 model and that it could be a USDM engine. The real question left is did Nissan continue the use of VTC's in all the Jspec engines or was it also discontinued there and in what year? The engine I have also has VTC's with the newer style 48P heads. Im inclind to think that Nissan continued to make the VTC VG in Japan longer than they made it here. I don't see any reason why they would discontinue it there...
